Ninth + North Interiors is a Chicago-based interiors company, headed by Jocelyn Ricks. N+N loves small corner spruce ups as much as multi-faceted mansions. All design spaces are equally exciting! We are enamored by contrast and love the mix of bright whites against natural textures and vibrant patterns. By creative space planning, collaborative curation, and selective editing, we are able to help you establish interiors that help you feel even more at home.
Jocelyn has garnered her design experience through working with clients on full-scale design-build projects from their earliest conceived dream to live-in ready. Her strong construction background combined with her vast knowledge of product offerings and styling enables her to be a strong friend and advocate for her clients throughout the entire design process, and thereafter.
She grew up in the mountains of Park City, Utah. As the daughter of a general contractor, she had a very early exposure to building and design. She holds a bachelor's degree in Interior Design (Brigham Young University- Idaho). Prior to designing in Chicago, she completed professional design work with both a custom cabinetry showroom and, a high-end product merchant in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was then hired as a designer for a Kitchen and Bath Design-Build firm in Lakeview and made her mark as a Senior Designer for a high-end residential Design-Build firm in Lincoln Park.
When she isn't designing, Jocelyn loves to longboard, play the ukulele, and camp with her husband and Cavapoo, Moose.
Jocelyn will make your home amazing (and save you a ton of stress!)
"We hired Jocelyn Ricks to design and oversee a full gut rehab/remodel on our first floor kitchen/living room and I cannot say enough good things about her and her work! This was a huge project—walls down, floors ripped up, central A/C installed, plumbing stacks moved, and all new finishes and furniture. My husband and I both work full time and we have three kids. I knew I would need help with this project if we didn't want it to last forever and torture our family to shambles. Cue Jocelyn! She managed everything from design to obtaining bids from multiple contractors to scheduling to ordering to overseeing delivery and installment. It's a LOT to manage and she knew just when things should be scheduled and ordered to keep us on schedule. She took time to figure out our style and our needs (including budget) and brought us 3-5 choices of everything so I never felt overwhelmed by decisions. It just felt fun. If I didn't see something that I loved, she'd search again and come back with more choices until we found the perfect thing. She always had great advice and thought of things that I would never think of but ended up being some of my favorite things (such as a magic corner cabinet. Love.) She kept track of the budget and costs and gave us regular updates. If the workers did something that we weren't too pleased with she handled the communications and worked with them to find a solution. Everything was completed on time (a miracle!) and we absolutely LOVE our new home. I am now a big believer in getting a designer to help with remodeling projects. If you have one on the horizon in the Chicago area, Jocelyn is your girl!"

Jocelyn is an interior design magician and best friend rolled into one.
"Jocelyn is an interior design magician - exactly what every person needs when they are designing their space. If you're looking for a design guru, space and flow magic maker, and best friend who will make you feel like her amazing ideas are all your own, she should be your go-to. She transformed our space, made the process uplifting and inspiring, and helped us combine function and style into a space that is not only beautiful, but also withstands our destructive toddlers. Calling her was the best decision I've ever made for my home."

Completely satisfied, very professional
"I worked with Jocelyn to gut and redesign a kitchen in my loft. We agreed on a budget in the beginning, then she guided me through each step of the design. She was completely transparent during the contractor quoting process, and I felt like she was really representing my best interests. We reviewed finishes together—she gave options and opinion, but was interested-in and respected my choices. The project went seamlessly, on budget, and on time with no hiccups. She's the best, I'd work with again anytime."
